“Call of Duty” hacker arrested in Manchester

A 17 year old man has been arrested at his home in Manchester by a police e-Crime Unit for an alleged cyber attack on the online game Call of Duty.

The game’s publishers, Activision, informed police in September after their site was attacked by a programme called Phenom Booter which left thousands of gamers unable to play online for several hours.

The teenager, arrested under the Computer Misuse Act, was arrested on Friday and is being questioned by police.
The company traced the attack to the UK by identifying the host server and IP address of the user. was hosted in the UK and further investigation traced the IP address to the Greater Manchester area.

Online gaming in the UK alone is worth hundreds of millions.
