Memorable cases: Fraud and Corruption.
A director of a lighting company that contracted to provide lighting for the shows at The Millenium Dome, was alleged to have acted corruptly in making commission payments to an employee of the Dome to allow his company to successfully tender for work. The employee was convicted. The Director was acquitted.

Charity Fraud.
Husband and wife who were Directors and who ran a charity for the benefit of disadvantaged children. Following complaints from donors to the Charity commission an investigation took place resulting in charges of Conspiracy to defraud. Negotiated conclusion.

Advanced Fee Fraud.
A company that operated a cold call business pursuing customers with bad debt records who then charged an advance fee to obtain a loan. When the loans were not forthcoming complaints were made to the trading standards office and then referred to the police. A basis of plea was agreed with the prosecution resulting in a non custodial sentence.”

Inland Revenue Cheat.
Secretary of cold call company collecting Gift Aid donations from businesses for children’s charity. Inland Revenue prosecution for Paye and Gift Aid fraud. Basis of plea agree which resulted in a non custodial sentence.”

Inland Revenue Cheat.
Involving a high profile chain of retail shops and garages throughout the north west of England. We acted on behalf of retailer and were able to negotiate a settlement of the case resulting in a minimum sentence and confiscation payment.

Senior solicitor: Martin Cunningham
Martin graduated with a Batchelor of Law with Honours Degree from the University of London and was admitted as a solicitor in 1984. He set up Martin Cunningham & Co in 1987 in Moss Side, Manchester where he practised Criminal Law.

In 1996 he moved the practice to central Manchester where he was senior partner until he left to set up the current niche practice Martin Cunningham Solicitors in 2002. Since then he has successfully defended many high profile cases and continues to be instructed to defend in major fraud prosecutions nationwide. He is a Specialist Fraud Supervisor for his firm and he has been acclaimed as a leader in his field. He prides himself in the fact that his firm provides a personal service to all its clients.

Judith Naylor

Judith graduated from the University of Manchester and practised as a solicitor with Martin Cunningham at his previous practice and now at Martin Cunningham Solicitors. She believes that a client should always feel reassured and be confident in their lawyers. Since 1994 she has specialised in defending fraud and business crime and has successfully represented company directors in major fraud trials throughout the country.
