What is White Collar Crime?


“White Collar Crime” is a term used to describe a non violent crime committed by a person of respectability and high social status in the course of his occupation, generally for personal gain and often involving money. There is no fixed definition of this crime, although it usually includes bribery, embezzlement, fraud, forgery, and violations of trust committed by corporations or individuals engaged in commerce.
The term white collar refers to the color of dress shirts worn by professional and clerical workers, as opposed to the rugged denim and chambray shirts normally worn by manual workers. (Blue collar).

  • Fraud and embezzlement are examples of white-collar crime.
